Area competitors excel at national rodeo event

Fifteen-year-old Laney Felter, daughter of Mark and Tracey Kaufman of Cisco, and 14-year-old Cal Spence, son of Kendra Spence and Bob Spence of Monticello, competed at the International Miniature Rodeo Association World Finals the week of January 15-21 at Jim Norick Arena in Oklahoma City.

Zoning variance approved for golf clubhouse

The Piatt County board on July 13 cleared the way for the Monticello Golf Association to construct a new clubhouse at the local golf course.

Board members voted 6-0 to approve a variation that will allow the structure to be within 30 feet of the road, less than the zoning ordinance minimum of 50 feet.
