The City of Monticello is seeking to fill a part-time vacancy within the Public Works Department. Potential applicant will schedule, assist and provide employee oversight for the maintenance and upkeep of the parks, gardens, and planting areas throughout town in an efficient and economical manner including minor landscape work within said parks, gardens, and planting areas. Applicant must have good communication skills and be able to effectively interact with the public. The ideal candidate would have a high school diploma, a valid Illinois driver's license, and experience demonstrating thorough knowledge of annual, biennial and

perennial plants, planting considerations, growing conditions,

including soil type, drainage, organic matter, PH, fertility, plant care including watering, mulching, deadheading, pinching,

disbudding, staking, and plant insect and pest control. Any

combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Employment will normally be between the middle of March through the middle of December each year. Working hours and days will vary. Normal hours shall be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but could also include weekends providing approximately 30 hours of work per week. The beginning rate of pay will be $17.00 per hour. The
