Cerro Gordo Zip Code Day activities announced

Cerro Gordo’s “Zip Code Day” day will be begin on June 16 with a breakfast at the Masonic Lodge from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Beginning at 9 a.m. the outdoor festivities begin, and at 10 a.m. there will be an opening ceremony by the Boy Scouts and cheerleaders.

The vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be commemorative stamps for sale at the Post Office Booth, located at the pergola across the street from Judy’s Kitchen.

Those attending can sign the banner from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the event will also feature games like horseshoes and ring toss, and more.

Throughout the day the smoke house will be open, multiple vendors will be selling food and other items. The Cheerleaders will be selling pork chop sandwiches from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. There will be a golf cart shuttle to and from the Pergola-Civic Center-Veterans Memorial.

Zip Code Day activities
10:30 a.m. – Cupcake Walk

12:30 to 3 p.m. – Canvas Bag Painting, Clay Pot painting

1:30 to 3 p.m. – Splat Painting

2 to 3 p.m. – Chubby Bunny Contest

Activities located near the pergola: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – time capsule (items will be stored in bank safe), raffle tickets for Veteran’s Memorial prizes, Clay Pot People for sale, Stepping Stones game and count how many times 61818 can be found from South St. between Monroe and Madison (Only outside, not inside businesses.)

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Purchase Mystery Bags

10:45 to 11:30 a.m. – Dog Show (meet by the Pergola)

1:30 p.m. – Cell Phone Scavenger Hunt

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Grade School Bicycle Rodeo

4 p.m. – Raffle Drawing, Need not to be present to win. Prizes for the following contests: 61818 Coloring Page, 61818 Project, 61818 Count Contest, Clay Pot People Contest, Stepping Stone Contest, Veterans Memorial Prize $618.18, $200, $100

4 to 5 p.m. – Salsa Contest

The Library will also be hosting its share of activities.

10:45 to 11: 30 a.m. – Zippy & Zip Code Story (lanyard notebook)

11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – Town Stories

12:30 to 1:15 p.m. – Civil War- Lincoln Funeral Train Story

1:15 to 2 p.m. – Adult Art

2:15 to 2:45 p.m. – Zippy & Zip Code Story

3 to 3:45 p.m. – Civil War- Lincoln Funeral Train Story

4 to 5 p.m. – Rock Painting

The Civic Center will be hosting these activites:

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Bingo

12:30 to 2:30 p.m. – Pie and Ice cream with donation

1 to 5 p.m. – Free Music
