Over 20 people submitted their ideas for a new name for the Mansfield campus but only one was chosen.

The Blue Ridge School Board voted to approve Blue Ridge Intermediate and Junior High as the name of the new school building, which will go into effect at the start of the 2013 school year.

Other suggestions included Blue Ridge Knights Castle, Freedom Elementary, John Weaver School, Liberty Elementary, Blue Ridge Middle School and Mansfield Intermediate Center.

The school board held a special meeting Dec. 12 to review the names and determine the official title. The board gave final approval at a regular meeting held on Dec. 19.
