Brothers win Bement Bee

Bement Elementary and Middle School held their local spelling bee on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Leo Kinsella edged his brother Paolo for top honors in the 32-student contest.

The two brothers ended up spelling against one another for twenty-eight rounds in the finals until Leo spelled the championship word.

This accomplishment made Leo Kinsella Bement’s Spelling Bee Champion for two years in a row. Paolo, an eighth grader, and Leo, a sixth grader, will participate in the Piatt County Spelling Bee along with Victoria Vandivier, fourth grade; Braden Fogerson, fifth grade; and Natalie Glennon, seventh grade.

The Piatt County Spelling Bee will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 in Walsh Gymnasium at Bement.
