Community committee formed by school board

The Monticello school district has organized a Community Facility Advisory Committee, which will discuss the school’s various facilities options and report back to the school board in August or September.

The school board will make the ultimate decision as to what plan to go forward with and would need to take action to place a facility referendum on the March 20, 2018 ballot by late December, 2017.

“We are hopeful that the CFAC report will include consensus on a facility plan that can receive majority voter support from the community,” said Monticello Superintendent Dr. Vic Zimmerman. “We had more volunteers than available slots on the committee. We have tried to appoint members of the CFAC to represent the entirety of our school district.”

Meetings are scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. on March 27, April 3, April 17, May 1 and May 15 in the Monticello High School Media Center. Additional meetings may also be scheduled if needed.

The meetings will be led by school board members Kevin Frye and Marc Sheppard.

Members of the advisory committee are: Marc Sheppard, Kevin Frye, Tenna Knox, Brad Ellison, Kevin Steffes, Megan Jones, Patrick Broyles, Kelley Lawson, Mike Randall, Lyn Peterson, Mike Koon, Gerald Schmidt, Von Lambert, Randy Keith, Shelly Crawford-Stock, Mike Heiniger, Lynn Simon and Kristine Miller.
