Bement school board organizes

The Bement school board on April 12 seated its recently-elected board members, including newcomer Denise Strack and incumbents Kyle Rogers, Janice Fogerson (4-year terms) and Trixie Stoerger-Flavin (2-year term). Valerie Stoerger elected not to run for another term.

Rogers was elected president of the board, Todd Scott vice president and Janice Fogerson secretary. Those offices had been held by Jeff Funk, Rogers and Scott.

In other business, the board:

–approved business teacher Andrew Brown as the Information Technology Director for the 2017-18 school year;

–approved the resignations of Dr. Gary Lewis as high school teacher at the end of the school year; and Andrea Dunlap as a one-on-one aide;

–approved the hiring of Rachel Riley-Halliday as a long-term, part-time substitute to teach Spanish this fall;

–voted to keep most board sessions at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month.
