Broncos athletes pay it forward

BY CHRISTY JANKOWSKI

On Friday, Sept. 28 Bronco athletes from the Cerro Gordo and senior high read to grade schoolers. Each class picked books for their athlete to read. The idea came about from third grade teacher Frankie Martin.

High School Principal Jeremy Rodebaugh expressed his pride for each and every one of his students who participated and told them afterwards, “You all did an amazing job. I am so proud of all of you. The teachers all complimented on how great you were. I went around to all the rooms and the kids were really smiling.” He added, “I think we should do it again.”

Rodebaugh was delighted to see all the smiles.

“Hopefully this relationship with our older athletes, our older role models and it doesn’t have to just be athletes,” he said.

“The smiles on not only the elementary school kid faces, but the smiles on our varsity athlete faces makes it all worth it. This is what we are in the profession for. I think everybody young and old had a great time,” said Rodebaugh.
