Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr! at D-W

Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.! will be presented March 16-17 at DeLand-Weldon.

In the play, new teacher, Tom (Calvin Larrison, senior), plans to relax by watching a little TV before his first day of school. His rec room is instead invaded by the in-control George (Billy Schmidt, junior), the sensible Dori (Emilee Fenton, junior), the fun loving Joe (Noah Danison, freshman), the sweet Shulie (Emma Danison, 8th grade), and the silly Dina (Cydney Shofner, 7th grade), who encourage him that he is, in fact, ready for his first day of school.

They, together with an ensemble comprised of other assets of his personality, lead him throughSchoolhouse Rock! classics such as, “Unpack Your Adjectives,” “I’m Just a Bill,” “Dothe Circulation,” and “Conjunction Junction.”

The characters and ensemble, comprised of 15 middle school students, help Tom realize that he has had the knowledge he needs all along to accomplish his task. The stage crew, led by Alex Young (freshman) and Taylor Alwood (8th grade), fuel a fun, prop filled, review-style show, sure to entertain young and old. Rehearsals have been running since January, and actor and crew are hard at work getting ready for performances at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16 and at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

There is a cost for tickets. Concessions will be available for purchase from the freshman class. For more details or information, call the high school at 736-2311.
