New Business - There's No Place Like Home

Re-purposed furniture, painted gourds, and hand-made quilts are just a few of the items you’ll find when visiting There’s No Place Like Home located at 215 W. Washington St., Monticello.

The home décor store, owned by realtor Janet White, brings together talented artists from throughout the community and showcases their talents under one roof.

“When I had the opportunity to move my clothing boutique onto the square, I knew I still wanted something in this space,” explains White.  The idea for the shop came to her overnight.  Responding to a community need, White began making phone calls to local artists and the store was created within a matter of days.  There are currently 10 vendors being featured in the store.

There’s No Place Like Home offers something for everyone.  Primitives, jewelry, and crafts are available for purchase. “I love that there is something here for every budget and every kind of taste,” explained White.

White is passionate about buying local and hopes that both of her retail establishments encourage community member to spend their dollars locally.

“The Holidays are the perfect time to support the small town local businesses that make up the heart of and soul of Monticello," she said.

To further encourage local spending, White and her staff host special evening and weekend shopping events.  On Saturday, Nov. 10, the shop will host a holiday open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers will be entered into a drawing to win a giant stocking filled with merchandise from each vendor.

There’s No Place Like Home is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning Nov. 18, the shop will also be open on Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. for holiday shopping.
