Cerro Gordo and Monticello each celebrated in big ways on Dec. 1, ushering in the Christmas season with celebrations.
In Cerro Gordo, participants of Christmas on the Hill were able to not only enjoy an outdoor parade, but could take part in indoor events at the elementary school. A special musical put on by fifth-grade students was also a hit in the afternoon.
In Monticello, things kicked off Friday, Nov. 30 with the Reds of Christmas, which included wine-tasting and roaming carolers.
The holiday spirit continued the next morning with shopping events at the Monticello Community Center, followed by an 80-plus entry Christmas Parade.
Temperatures in the 60's brought out large crowds to both events.
