Bement students host Santa event

The Bement High School student council started preparing for Christmas right after homecoming. Students and sponsors began planning their 2nd annual Supper with Santa in October.

On Dec. 7 children and their parents gathered in the cafeteria for crafts, games, supper and a visit from Santa Claus.

Everyone who bought a meal ticket had tacos for supper.

Student Council members came up with the craft ideas that all ages could do.

Children who attended made reindeer out of brown paper bags, decorated ornaments, made reindeer food out of oatmeal and glitter, colored a Christmas picture and wrote letters to Santa.

Santa showed up during the event and the kids were able to take a picture with him. They also play a snowball game.

Many of the student council members agreed that this is a great way to get in the Christmas Spirit.

“It’s a great chance to help the kids spread Christmas cheer,” said BHS Junior Jordyn Miller. “It also helped me get into the Christmas spirit.”

The BHS Student Council looks to learn from this year and make next year even better.

“This is our second year doing Supper with Santa,” said BHS Junior Allison Vaughn. “We are going to build each year and create the event bigger and better.”

There are 21 student council members and two faculty sponsors.
