Monticello 7th graders win state title!!

The Monticello Middle School seventh grade girls' basketball squad completed a perfect season by winning the IESA Class 3A state championship on Thursday night (Dec. 6). The 27-0 Lady Sages took the title with a hard-fought 39-25 victory over Eureka in action at Assumption.

Monticello used a 9-0 second quarter to expand on a slim one-point lead, then outscored the Hornets 15-7 to close out the game.

Tatum McCall led the Sages with 25 points, includng 13 free throws. Mica Allison scored 6 and Zanna Myers and Emily Wilson 4 apiece.
