Halloween events and trick-or-treat hours

Atwood: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

There will also be a Halloween Parade and Parking Lot Party sponsored by the Atwood Chamber of Commerce at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 in downtown Atwood. The costume parade begins at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the United Church of Atwood.

Bement: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Cerro Gordo: 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31

Cisco: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

The Cisco firehouse will be open and serving hot dogs, chips, cookies and soft drinks. Candy will also be distributed. This community event is sponsored by the firemen, the Village of Cisco and Willow Branch Township.

DeLand 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

The Goose Creek District Library Haunted Hay Rack Ride will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21. Participants will get goodie bags, Halloween treats, hot apple cider, and Curtis Orchard apple donuts. Goose Creek District Library is located at 220 North Highway Ave., DeLand. Hammond: 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Mansfield: 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Monticello: 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

-5 to 7 p.m. - Maple Point will also welcome trick or treaters from at 1000 N. Union St.

-5 to 7 p.m. - The City of Monticello Recreation Department and Police Department will host trick-or-treaters at the Monticello Family Aquatic Center. Goodies will be given away at several trick or treat stops. Halloween props will also be set up for photos.

The Monticello Rotary Annual Halloween Costume Party will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 in the Lincoln Elementary School gym in Monticello. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and judging starts at 10 a.m. It is open for those 12 years old and younger, and judging will be divided into age categories.

A haunted house, “Nightmare on Fox Hill” will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Oct. 27-28 at 14 Foxhill Court in Monticello. There is a fee to take part. Proceeds will go to the Monticello Police Department Shop with a Cop program. There will also be a free Halloween Night matinee for trick or treaters from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31, which will be a no scare, lights on version of the haunted house.

The Monticello Recreation Department is sponsoring a Halloween Coloring Contest. Participants can pick up the picture and rules at the Monticello Municipal Building located at 210 N. Hamilton or print them from the cities website www.cityofmonticello.net Winners will be chosen on artistic merit. Age categories are 4 and under, 5- to 8-year-olds, and 9- to 12-year-olds. Entries must be received by Noon on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Municipal Building. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category.
