Nursing Home becomes more energy efficient

The Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello recently replaced its 35-year old air conditioning “chiller” with a new, more energy efficent model.

A majority of the $72,000 cost was paid for by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

A crane was needed to remove the old chiller in order to make room for the new unit. The project was done in January in order to have it ready for the warm weather, and also to take advantage of grant incentives that increase the state portion if the project meets certain deadlines.
