Christina Stoltz is new Atwood village president

One of the first tasks for new Atwood Village President Christina Stoltz will be to complete a village board that is now three members short. Just two candidates ran for four open positions Tuesday, and Stoltz was also a sitting member of the village board and will need to be replaced.

“I've been thinking about it in case I was elected,” said Stoltz, who won 85-61 over Arthur Urban. “I will start contacting possible board members tomorrow (Wednesday) to see if they are willing to do it.”

She will take over as village president for Dale Hammel, who opted not to run for reelection.

Stoltz, a customer service manager/sales coordinator at Mid-State Tank in Sullivan, also wants to get Main Street resurfaced and draw new business to town.

“I'm trying to bring new life back into the town. I've been working with new businesses, trying to get people to come to town. I want to try to put Atwood back on the map,” she said.

Winning village board seats in Tuesday's election were Michael Danford and David Venis, who ran for three open four-year seats. There was no candidate for a two-year seat on the board.
