Bement High School will celebrate its Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5, with “Luau” as the theme.
The following students have been selected as this year’s Homecoming court: Alexis Jones, daughter of Jini Butler and the late Aaron Jones of Bement, escorted by Mark Brewer, son of Jeni and Jim Brewer of Ivesdale; Sadie Peeler, grand-daughter of Karen Cooley and the late Mark Cooley of Ivesdale, escorted by Braden Fogerson, son of Janice and Curt Fogerson of Bement; Halee Schimansky, daughter of Hannah and Joe Worth of Bement, escorted by Dawson Swaim, son of Crystal and Siegel Grimes of Milmine; Ellie Shonkwiler, daughter of Stephanie and Kent Shonkwiler of Bement, escorted by Tyler Upton, son of Jamie and Jason Danenhower of Bement; Shelby Strack, daughter of Denise and Roger Strack of Ivesdale, escorted by John Watzlawick, son of Michelle and Jerold Watzlawick of Bement.
The following have been selected as kindergarten attendants: Ariya Cler, daughter of Kimberly and Gustin Cler of Bement and Brody Jayne, son of Kendra and Tim Jayne of Bement.
The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 with Grand Marshal Gail LeFever leading the parade. The parade route will begin at the school and continue north on Piatt Street, west on Bodman Street, south on Route 105, and east on William Street back to the school.
There will be an all-school/community pep assembly from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium prior to the parade.
At 7 p.m., the Cerro Gordo-Bement football Broncos will take on the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights. During half-time, the Marching Bulldogs will present their 2019 competition show “Guardians of the Galaxy.” The homecoming court will be introduced, float winners will be announced, and James K. Johnson and William “John” Lyons will be inducted into the 2019 Bement High School Hall of Fame.
The 2019 Bement High School Homecoming Coronation will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium. There will be a picture-taking opportunity for the public immediately following the coronation. The dance will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m.
Hailey Gadbury and Zach Rogers, Bement High School juniors, will be the emcees for the evening. The dance will be open to high school students and their guests only.
