A 29-year-old Farmer City man was injured after the cement truck he was driving left the roadway in an accident near Champaign that closed an I-74 ramp to I-57 for about four hours on July 31.

Illinois State Police say Jeffrey S. Shaffer was driving a 2017 Western Star cement truck on the ramp from I-74 westbound to I-57 northbound when the vehicle left the road, overturned and came to a rest on the grass median between the ramp and I-57.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for what police called non-life threatening injuries.

Shaffer was issued citations for driving too fast for conditions and for failure to wear a properly adjusted seat safety belts.
