The Monticello Freedom Festival will be held Wednesday, July 3 at Lodge Park. Festivities will start at 4 p.m. with Action Inflatables, kid’s games, food vendors, DJ Big Daddy Mac, balloons, pony rides, novelties, airbrush and a raffle.
Fireworks will start at dusk with Tatum Wichus singing the National Anthem.
There will be parking at Monticello High School School, located off Market Street/Route 105 south of Monticello. Buses will transport to and from Lodge Park.
There is also parking at the park but space is limited. There is additional parking at the Monticello Trail Blazers grounds north of Lodge Park.
The Monticello Railway Museum will offer a Fireworks Train, which departs from Wabash Depot in downtown Monticello at 8 p.m. Please make reservations ahead for the train.
Please pay attention to the No Parking signs along the road. This includes unloading passengers, stopping for any reason, or standing on the roadside.
Bement Fourth of July
Bement’s 4th of July Celebration begins with a 2 p.m. parade through the downtown business district and along North Macon Street. After the parade there will be activities at the village’s Forest Preserve Park, including Bingo (grand prize, $300 Visa Gift Card), cake walks, a watermelon eating contest, craft vendors and food vendors.
Fireworks will be shot off at dusk.
