A Monticello woman has pleaded guilty to stealing money from the Monticello Athletic Booster Club.
Police had said Sharilyn K. Droege, 47, had stolen $5,038 while serving as treasurer for the club.
School officials say the money has been paid back. Monticello Police Chief John Carter also pointed out that the boosters are separate from the Monticello school district, and that no access was gained to school district funds.
Droege had been charged with the Class 3 felony of theft between $500 and $10,000, but on Monday pled guilty to the reduced charge of theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
Judge Jeremy Richey accepted the plea, ordered a pre-sentence investigation and report to be done, and set a July 29 sentencing date.
