Kirby Medical Center has been named a 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey for the fourth straight year. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in Employee Engagement.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.

Kirby Medical CEO, Steve Tenhouse, chalks the recognition and award up to the consistent processes the hospital has implemented over the last five years, “We approach our employee engagement survey and solution to problems the same way we approach our relationship with our employees and community – we involve them in the process, identify opportunities for improvements and successes, then implement any changes as quickly as possible. Not all departments of the hospital are the same – each department has its own survey results and partners with those departmental employees to evaluate the survey and make changes.”

“Our collective efforts and singular focus on safe, expertly delivered care yield strong bonds between everyone at KMC. Great care begins with engaged caregivers. We are privileged to do purposeful, worthwhile work and this award is simply a reflection of who we are each day at KMC,” says Andrew Buffenbarger, Chief Compliance Officer.

“Congratulations to Kirby Medical Center for receiving the Guardian of Excellence Award,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Executive Chairman of Press Ganey. “This honor reflects their unwavering commitment to improving the safety, quality, and experience of care. Their hard work and dedication are inspiring, and we are proud to partner with them on our shared mission to reduce patient suffering.”
