The Monticello and Tuscola Shopko stores will close after all. The stores were not on the list of closures released by the company as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy announcement on Jan. 16, but were recently added to the list of ones that will be shut down.
The total number of stores to be shuttered nationwide has grown from 105 to about 250 on the latest list.
Both Monticello and Tuscola Shopko's are expected to close May 5, according to the company.
The Chapter 11 bankruptcy was filed by Specialty Retail Shops Holding Corp., Shopko's parent company, along with 12 of its subsidiaries.
As part of its restructuring, Shopko will also relocate 20 optical centers to freestanding locations and auction off its pharmacies.
