Aldermen sworn in

John Frerichs, Tom Reed, Pamela Harlan, Tammy Sebens and Rodney Burris were all sworn into office at the May 13 meeting of the Monticello city council. Administering the oath of office is City Clerk Jill Potts.

Five aldermen were sworn into office at the May 13 meeting of the Monticello city council. It included two new council members: John Frerichs, who won a four-year term for Ward I on April 2, and Rodney Burris, a two-year Ward III winner during last month's municipal elections.

Also netting four-year terms were incumbents were Tammy Sebens (Ward II), Pamela Harlan (Ward III) and Tom Reed (Ward IV). Harlan had been appointed to a council vacancy in February, resigning her city clerk position in order accept the council seat.

Reed was the only one involved in a contested election in April, beating out two other candidates.
