Eleven actors and actresses are enjoying the process of getting ready for the fifth annual MTA/MAEF fundraiser to be held at the Allerton Conference and Retreat Center, the site of the previous productions for the benefit of Monticello Schools.
Rehearsals for “Lily, the Felon’s Daughter” have been under way for a month. The income generated will benefit students, as the proceeds fund grant awards for which Monticello teachers may apply. The previous productions in this series featured murder mysteries with the audience involved as each person put the clues together to identify the villain. In this production, the villains are evident, and the audience is invited to register their reactions with vocal responses such as “BOO” and “HISS”. But some in the audience may disagree!
The public is invited to attend, express their feelings, and predict the outcome of this Victorian melodrama. In addition, there will be a dessert intermission. The production will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 18 and Friday, Nov. 19. Doors will open at 6:30 with the performance at 7 p.m. The performance will last approximately two hours with the intermission dessert.
This year’s sponsor is the Monticello Bus Service; Dessert Sponsor is Kirby Hospital. Tickets are now available at County Market, First State Bank and on-line at www.monticellotheatre.org.
