Charles William Logan, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Monticello, passed away at 12:35 a.m., January 24, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Charles was born February 15, 1930 in Arthur, IL the son of Joseph Morris and Grace (Roberts) Logan. He married Mildred Josephine Turney on July 4, 1954 in Shelbyville, IL. She passed away February 11, 2002.
Charles is survived by his children, Monna Kreher (Clete) of Marion, IA, Jenel Belville (Randy) of Springfield, IL, Charles ‘Doc’ Logan (Beth) of Lone Jack, MO, LaRae Roth (Mel) of Carthage, IL, David Logan (Kim) of Marion, IA; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers Earl, Roy, and Clyde, and 3 sisters Helen, Edith, and Ethel.
Charles was a bookkeeper and owner/operator of Logan Enterprises. Charles served as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the First Baptist Church of Monticello. Charles loved bicycling, gardening, auctioning, and collecting toy tractors. His greatest accomplishment was raising five children who all loved the Lord.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Monticello with Pastor Mitch Estep officiating. Interment will be held in Bethel Cemetery, Findlay, IL.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Monticello or Central College of the Bible, Moberly, MO.
