Dona Howe Amdor, 93, of Farmer City passed away at 1:55 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at her residence.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cunningham Children’s Home, Urbana,or Weedman United Methodist Church, Farmer City.
Dona was born May 31, 1925, at Bloomington, a daughter of Frank L. and Elma Bailey Simpson. She married J. Maurice Howe on Aug. 18, 1944, at Prairie Chapel Church, Farmer City. He passed away July 6, 2002. She later married Dr. John Amdor on Jan. 1, 2004, at Weedman United Methodist Church, Farmer City. He passed away Nov. 24, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Terry) Murphy of Castle Rock, Colorado; Sandra Atkinson of Monticello; Kathy (Jerry) Hoover of New Carlisle, Indiana; Carole (Randy) Kopp of Farmer City; Janet (Doyle) Otto of Farmer City; Joe (Nancy) Howe of Farmer City; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen Reed of Mackinaw
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. Maurice Howe and Dr. John Amdor, parents, and an infant sister.
Dona attended Browns Business School, Illinois Commercial College and Indiana Central College. She was the active president and bookkeeper for the family farm corporation. She was a member of the Weedman United Methodist Church and played the piano or organ at the former Prairie Chapel Church and the Weedman United Methodist Church for 75 years. Dona was a member and past president of the Weedman United Methodist Women and the Farmer City Shakespeare Club.
