On Thursday, February 14th, 2019, Donald Eugene Hyatt, loving husband and father of three, passed away at age 83. Don of White Heath, IL was born to Cecil and Marie Hyatt on November 7, 1935 in Champaign, IL and married Linda (Hassinger) Hyatt on August 2nd, 1959.
Don served six years in the Illinois National Guard. He worked at the Illinois Central Rail Road for 30 years and retired as an Environmental Engineer managing pollution control and any mishaps. He enjoyed his hobby farm raising cows and goats, going to auctions and truly enjoyed helping friends dropping by with welding and equipment related repairs and projects. Don was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.
He is survived by his wife and their three daughters, Teri Hyatt of Princeton, NJ, Donna Wright of Champaign, IL and Paula (Darrell) Niswonger of Perryville, MO and seven grandchildren, Lexuss and Crystal Luongo-Hyatt, Zachariah, Isaiah and Micaiah Wright, and Emily (Austin Davis) and Noah Niswonger and two great-grandchildren Scarlett and Jaydan.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William (Bill) Hyatt and sister, Doris Perry. He is survived by his wife, children, siblings Mary Stephens, Clarence Hyatt, Barbara Bohlen, Cecilia Bohlen, Carol Deck, Bebe Gaines and many nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his family; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
