Ronald L. Miner, 64, of Champaign, passed away April 14, 2019 in Schaumburg, IL.
Ron was born December 1, 1954 in Rantoul, IL the son of Dwight L. and Mary A. (Achterberg) Miner.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Debra Miner of Champaign, Sharon (Kenny) Cherry of Monticello, Barbara (Richard) Howland of White Heath, Lisa (Tim) Foran of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, sister Diana, brother Donald, and nephew Nathan Howland.
Ron was Director, Accounting Consulting, in the Office of Business and Financial Services, University Accounting and Financial Reporting at the University of Illinois for 32 years. Ron made significant contributions during his 32 years in the System Office. Ron helped with the accounting transition when Sangamon State University became the University of Illinois at Springfield. He was a key member of the Banner Finance implementation team. With his accounting knowledge and technical expertise he streamlined numerous processes. As the leader of Accounting Consulting Group (ACG) he assisted many units across the entire system in revolving complex accounting issues. Those who knew Ron will always remember him for his problem-solving abilities, helpful demeanor, and easy-going personality. Ron was also a personal CPA. Ron was a member of the Monticello Christian Church, he enjoyed traveling, and many activities with the Illini sports and the Krannert Center Arts.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.
